A drawing competition among schoolchildren in all
three regions sharing the Prespa basin was organised on the occasion of the
World Wetlands Day 2004. The topic, "Our Prespa", turned out to be
very inspirational for many more schoolchildren than those originally planned
to take part in the competition, the enthusiasm of whom resulted in the final
inclusion of higher aged groups as well. Eventually, the competition involved
all 7-11 year-old groups of the primary schools of Liqenas and Gorica e Vogel,
in Albania, of Ag.Germanos in Greece and of Resen, in the FYR of Macedonia. Every
single participant received a T-shirt and a sticker with the Prespa Park logo. The
three winners proclaimed in each country were given a photo camera, an
educational play game and a children’s book on nature respectively. All drawings will be collected and will
then be presented in all schools that were involved in the competition.
